This photography session served two purposes.
First; it was all about Melanie. It was an empowering, confidence boosting… just a feel-good session for a young mother after the birth of her second child (only a few weeks prior).
Second; it was meant to provide me with the opportunity to experiment in a portrait style I had only just started practising. Something a photographer can't do enough of. A dramatic one light setup learned from watching Felix Kune’s “The Lighting Series”.
On both accounts, I know we killed it. Melanie joined me in my North Bay studio, we spent a few hours working through some different styles, and I personally love what we were able to capture together. I know she left feeling amazing about herself, even more so when she saw the finished images. And I was able to push myself just that little bit further.
Melanie remains one of those people I love to collaborate with. She's as nice a person off camera as she is beautiful in front of it. She's helped me out on many occasions where I just needed a face to practice on, so I was happy to be able to do this series for her as well.
